Initial Evaluation

We will review your application upon receipt to decide whether or not you will be invited to take part in a selection day.

We look for an even balance between academic potential and interpersonal skills:

Academic Potential:

Outstanding academic potential is a priority. We assess the difficulty of the courses you took at school and take your exam results into consideration.

Personal Potential:

We look for excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the special qualities needed to manage complex businesses.

Motivation and industry-specific talents:

Assessed on the basis of your extra-curricular activities or your work experience: we look for high academic achievement or involvement in activities requiring commitment, creativity and determination.

Selection Day

If you pass the initial evaluation, you will be invited to take part in a selection day. The selection day is an opportunity for us to examine your interests and abilities in much greater depth.

We advise you to attend our selection day in Kaw Hmu. It will give you a chance to visit our campus, meet members of faculty or other employees and even given a chance, talk to current students. If you do not live in Kaw Hmu for your selection day, you will be provided with free transportations to Kaw Hmu.

Our selection day involves the following activities:

  • English Proficiency test (paper based)
  • A hospitality aptitude and general knowledge test (paper based)
  • An interview
The interview

The interview is not a test of your knowledge and you will not be quizzed on specific facts. The aim is to assess your motivation, your potential and your suitability for the demands of the hospitality business. We will ask you to tell us about your experience and your expectations.

Preparing for your selection day

No specific preparation is needed. However, to make sure you are choosing the right career, you should find out as much as you can about the hospitality industry, the career opportunities it offers and the training options available.

Medical Test

As required by the industry, all candidates need to undergo two sets of health medical check-up:

  • General medical test
  • Hepatitis Testing

The Admissions Commission will decide whether or not to offer you a place at EHL based on the assessment of your application and on your performance at the selection day. The Commission’s decision is final.
